Recent News From Jacob's Light Foundation,Inc.

 

This has been an exciting time for the Foundation as we are looking forward to celebrating out 100,000 pound packing on July 31st 2007 6:45pm at the Brentwood American Legion Hall, Brentwood.  We thank each and every one of our wonderful and devoted volunteers and financial donors for helping us make this goal a reality. It is because of you that we continue our important mission of helping our American heroes overseas!

 

Special thanks goes to Peter Russo for his monthly donation of the boxes and tape that we use to send our care packages.  We appreciate his help!

 

We want to thank the Arbors Assisted Living Community and Staff.  Special thanks to Emcee Gary Cucci, Christine Lonigro-Herting,Laurie Musto, and Karen Solomon for their' Knitting for the Soldiers' event on June 1, 2007.  It was a wonderful day to meet the residents who knitted blankets, hats and gloves that will be distributed with our care packages this coming winter to our soldiers. Resident Anne Marie Quinn represented the knitters and presented Dorine Kenney with a blanket for our troops.Children from the John Pearl Elementary School were there to sing "God Bless America" and other patriotic songs.  Active military and veterans were on hand to enjoy this event as well. The American Legion of Bohemia made a financial contribution and presented it to Dorine Kenny as well as lead the Color Guard together with the Bohemia Fire Department. The Arbors planted a tree in the middle of the courtyard, and created a memorial plaque for Jacob's Light Foundation, Inc.  An Employee of the Arbors , Tara Scalesi sang a solo in the courtyard and we were all touched by her singing and the love that the Arbors put into this event.  Our friend Congressman Steve Israel was on hand to thank our present Military, Veterans and Fireman for their efforts.  Please check out of gallery for photos of this wonderful event.  June 19th by invitation of Senator Hillary Clinton's office, Dorine Kenney and Alyse Spinner attended the Marines Sunset Parade in Arlington ,Viriginia which was so beautifully done by our Marine Heroes. We were touched deeply by this event.

 

Mickey B of B-103 had a Golden Oldies Summer Spectacular on June 30th  at the Patchogue Theater with partial proceeds going to the Jacob's Light Foundation, Inc. There were many wonderful oldies groups including Earl Lewis and the Channels, Cathy Jean and the Roomates, Eugene Pitt and the Jive Five,Lenny Cocco and the Chimes and Jay Siegel and the Tokens and many more.  We would like to give a special thanks and prayers to Junita Kesluk for her generous financial contribution to the Foundation which was presented to Dorine Kenney the night of the concert.

 

Lee Ann Brill 2006 New York State Senior Idol was featured at Mickey B's Summer Spectacular and  sang  'God Bless America'.  Lee Ann and music Producer Paul Antonios of Island Sound Studios created a beautiful music CD to Benefit Jacob's Light Foundation.  The cost of the CD is $10.00 and the proceeds will go directly the the Foundation.  If you are interested in purchasing a CD please call 631-332-2867.
